Geocache: A safe place

Have you ever heard about the geocache in Maastricht, the Netherlands? The one that is hidden in a safe? In a place that once used to be a bank? A geocache with more than 3000 favorite points? (of course still counting after I wrote this blogpost)

The geocache
My daughter wanted to visit another famous place in Maastricht, the bookstore that is in a church. That building is not used as a church any longer only as a bookstore, it has its atmosphere, and beauty. After the bookstore we stopped for a quick lunch at a quick food place and my wife started to look up what geocaches should we go after in Maastricht. She immediately spotted this one and realized this is that famous one, the legendary, and less then 300 meters away. There could nothing come in between this find and us.

Inside the geocache
She became so excited she kept on rushing us to finish up with our lunch. The we walked to the spot, and what do we see there? Another of her favorite places, a store for all tools you need or never need in a kitchen. Let's go in. Now where could it be? I was thinking if the employees in the store can already spot the geocachers in the store? I'm almost sure, we were walking around but not really looking at their products but searching for any entrances to the room. And just like in the wild out in the bushes or woods instead of going the short way we walked all around the store, then we found a stairways down to the basement. That place had many of their dicounted products, which is always good to find, and there was this bigger than I was expecting room.

The room
They had all the final sale items in this room, and of course all the safes and only one of them had the geocache. As the hint was clear the house number is the safe number, the only problem was that ourside we did not spot any house numbers on the building. So we check the two neighbours and it had to be between those.

The safes on the wall
There are bigger and smaller boxed there, personally I would have picked a bigger one, but hey we are happy that they picked any of them.

A closer look at the geocache
These geocaches are the ones that really makes this game huge fun. The only problem with such locations is they are limited to the hours when the store is open. If you ever get to Maastricht this is a must find, so make sure if you are on business you find a lunchbreak or so to go and find it.

The geocache in its place
I need to pick up some trackables at some geocaches. When I find such a "safe" geocache it would be so cool to drop them with a note stating I left it in a safe geocache. These are the places where mostly all coins and TBs are safe.

The geocache hanging out of its hiding place
It was a great day down in Maastricht. After we picked up some donuts in a closeby coffee place we headed over to Belgium to buy some fuel (a lot cheaper over there than in the Netherlands) and to buy some bread (they have good ones). Of course there was a geocache next to the store we went to, but it was a DNF.

Many thank for this great hide and of course I added one more FAVO points to it. And as a last note, did you know this geocache was featured on geocaching.com?
