Geocache: At the viewpoint

There are so many viewpoints along many of the roads we use in our areas. This one we drove by for the last nine or more years and never thought of stopping by ... till a geocache showed up and got us there.

The geocache almost in its place
As it is summer and the weather is not bad or some days it is even good in the Netherlands almost every day after work we try to go and find one or more geocaches in the neighborhood.

Hiding amongst the stones
On this evening we decided to go for this one and another close to a fast food restaurant. This was logged as a DNF by a few geocachers, but we like the challenges and as you can see we found it.

Magnetic geocache
I am still not sure what the magnet is for on this geocache's bottom as it was just put to its place as seen on the pictures and the magnet did not hold it at all. Maybe the last geocacher did not place it back as it was planned.

The view from the viewpoint through its window
That road you can see was the one I used every day for three months after I moved to the Netherlands. This was the most convenient route to get to work from my apartment. Every day I saw this viewpoint and I never stopped to check out. The funny part is that back then I used a PDA and a bluetooth GPS device to navigate and the GPS froze regularly, that is when I had to find a spot to reboot all, and look where we are by today, even my camera has a GPS and adds the coordinates to each picture I take.

The view without the window as a frame
On busy days in the morning and in the evening this road can be so busy that the traffic is stuck. This time of the year most families are still on vacation and kids are not going to school yet that is why it was so empty at around 6pm.

Newer apartment houses
As you can see through the other window there are two apartment houses with this ugly **** brown color. The story behind them is that we saw them as they built them, week over week we took this route to get to the market in Rotterdam and to get back. (We now have a better route.) As we saw them growing out of nothing then they started to have this brown color we were thinking maybe it is some isolation or some first layer of paint or so. Then weeks passed by, then months then we had to realize this is the final color... soooooo ugly.

The smallest window
In the Netherlands there are many artistic building, including these viewpoints. There is one next to one of the highways which I always consider to stop by when we go that way, but when we go we never really have the time, one day a geocache might show up there and then we get a reason to stop.

Stone wall
As you can see they use the same method to build walls as well, it is basically a metal grid filled with stones. A perfect place for those hidden key holding fake rocks, earlier we found one at another part of the city.

The viewpoint
The interesting thing about this structure is you get dizzy while walking up those stairs inside, it must be due to the walls not being vertical, but for sure it was really a wierd feeling to walk up there and search.

The viewpoint and the square in front of it
There was also a playground on the left side of the picture where some kids were playing but as we were searching on the other side of the viewpoint they were no real muggles for us this time. Kids are more curious then adults for sure, and as the saying says elderly people are like kids.

Thanks for the nice location and the reason to check this viewpoint out.
