Geocache: Under the branches

Image
Now this one is a very common hiding technic. I should have showed a few of these previously, but somehow I just found one yesterday and immediately I decided to share. Mostly I share finds a lot later to make it harder to trace back which hide it could be. Or wait a second... this blog is actually a blog with spoiler images... So here we go... See it? It is hiding under those branches If the hint already contains the fact that you need to search under some branches you should not have hard time finding the cache. So the thing is most geocachers I have met so far are humans and also lazy to some level, so when it is under something like small branches it will be covered with branches, but only to the point that it is barely visible. Humans do that with placing the object above in such a way that it is the least effort to put them there. Just look above, most are paralel, have you ever seen fallen branches just all around the place? Were they paralell? or placed close to each othe...

Geocache: Built in tablet holder

Image
How often do you come across a geocache where you can safely put down your oversized navigation system you might be using? In my case I just love to go geocaching with my tablet. Before you ask it is due to my age which means my vision is getting worse and not to support the progress I prefer something bigger and more visible. The geocache is hiding under the branches, and see my tablet... This geocache I found on a business trip to Hungary on the way home. I left the hotel early morning to finish up the shopping list I got from the family and then took the longest way to the airport and even when I was so close I did not go in, but searched for many around it. Driving on dirt road all around. Nice tablet holder there... Geocaches in woods can be challenging, and if you want to go fast with them go to the woods when most or all the leaves are already on the ground as they really can mess your GPS coordinates up while up on the trees. This one at this time of the year was a...

Geocache: Matryoshka doll

Image
Who said a geocache in an industrial area has to be a boring plastic box? It can hold the geocache but the log could also be in some Matryoshka doll to make it more fun. This we found not far from where we live, and it recently got there. Matryoshka doll as the log holder This is a nice animal set. If you are interested in more of this great Russian doll visit  wikipedia  for more information. I remember I saw the first one when I was really young and it was always fun to take them apart and some had even smaller ones in the middle. The doll in the plastic box As these dolls are made out of wood the weather would ruin them really fast so they need to be kept in some plastic box to keep them dry. When we arrived to this geocache the plastic box top cover was half way off and the dolls were not properly packed up, so we fixed that to keep them in good condition for a longer time. As a general hint for all geocachers, you all should treat the geocaches with care and r...
