Geocache: Another under the skirt hide

Image
Recently I just read some article online in a blog. It was about these hides so I thought it is time to share one more of these lamppost under the skirt hides from the US. This time from Mississippi state. Hiding place This I found on a sunny morning as part of my effort to turn put more smileys on the map around Memphis. Previous day there was a huge storm, with lots of water in a short time and many huge lightnings. I visited the Memphis area a few times already but never saw such a huge storm, and one other thing I've missed so far was the tornados. The geocache on the skirt It is really interesting that I see it with under the skirt hides that they are camouflaged. Why? If you camouflage a container you could also find some better hiding place like in a bush, on a tree? Back to the hiding technic, as I understood from the blog I read when we search for these geocaches we might be trespassing as these are mostly in parking lots of stores and that is their own pr...

Geocache: Under the skirt and a smiling muggle

Image
This time in Tennessee at some dining place. I was just in a store across the parking lot when I finished I quickly checked and I saw there is one, not further than 50 meters from me. I had a long day and I was in the USA, so let me do it the American way. The container under the skirt I jumped back into the car and parked the car right in front of the light pole. Smiled at myself and immediately started thinking what excuse could I tell myself not to walk that few steps, but drive. And then the sun shined into my eyes and I had the excuse, I had to cover my search and the car was the cover, so I had to park it there. The container After finding my excuse I jumped out of the car with my gear (camera, pen) and started the search. Wow this sound like there was a huge search needed, so I lifted up the skirt, and there you go found this tiny capsule. This could get a bit higher difficulty as to get the log out of the capsule was not so easy turning the cap and then pulling the ...

Geocache: Minions under the skirt

Image
Spending a few days in the USA, this time in the Memphis area, Tennessee and Mississippi. As in the states there are many hides under the light post skirts the only big difference usually is the way the container is prepared, the size, the shape. This time it was with the minions as the theme. Minions living under the skirt. To place a container under that skirt is no magic, but to make it more kids friendly you have to use some fun theme, kids just love minions. This container, when I found it was half way hanging out under the skirt, really could not miss, good that no muggles took it. I placed it back to where it should be, skirt in place like it should. The container on the skirt before signing. This hide was within one km the hotel I stayed, so on an early morning I decided to just drive by and find before I get my breakfast. It is the real park and grab type of geocache that you can park next to. The best to try when it is no working hours, like weekends, early or rea...

Geocache: Light post hide

Image
Light posts, US, what's next? Under the skirt? That is what my first guess was, and I was wrong. After an hour in a taxi to the airport then going through all steps to get to the airplane, flying for over 8 hours and finally in Detroit? Going through the border control, then picking up the checked in bag, and quickly dropping it off. What to do? Ok, I was fully prepared this time, offline map, walking distance geocaches saved and updated yesterday evening. So let's try to find a transportation to a location where with some walk I can pick a few geocaches. The geocache on the light post To be honest, maybe it is also called skirt, or maybe I could just call it a mini skirt. It was a quick find, which gave me some happiness and the motivation to go for the next one, only 1.8kms away, if I could go straight, and of course I could not, so over 2 kms to get to that. A closer picture of the geocache on my tablet. I got a tablet from my wife, and I decided to use that when...
