Geocache: Nano in the picket

We had a short trip to Belgium, down south part, close to Luxembourg and France. As part of the trip we did a few geocaches and collected two new souvernirs. The first geocache we found was not the easiest one, but after some search it was found.

All the story in short
It was not any heavy rain that day but it was not one of those great to be out there weather. The first problem we were facing with this geocache that the description was all in French, and to be honest our French is a bit rusty. Is that a problem nowadays on a top of some hills? Not really if you have any internet, which was super slow, so before we could translate the hint it took us a few minutes to search around the area.

Well camouflaged hide
As you can see above this geocache was really well done, hiding in that picket, and also it was not too easy to pull it out so for a split second I wasn't sure if I'm damaging something there or pulling a geocache out.

The logroll still in the hole
After I pulled the cover, I had to realize we have the next problem as the logroll was just in the hole, lucky for us we had all gears with us, so it got out quick and safe.

The geocache
There was a small problem with the screw it was not well in that small red cap, so first time the screw came out on its own, and I was not sure if it is what we needed, but then I carefully screwed it back and pulled out again this time it was harder to pull. The logroll was put into a small piece of a straw to make sure it won't get stuck in the picket. Really nicely done. One of those hides I will for sure duplicate so geocachers in my hiding area can also enjoy.

The fence hiding the geocache
As you can see this small fence was just next to a house, we are always extra careful when searching next to houses, you never know what could happen, angry owner comes and explains this is not a playground, or someone will come out smiling, or some dogs will chase you away. Lucky day for us, no one home or sleeping or just don't care.

Gate to the cemetery
This geocache was marking the cemetery on the top of this hill. A nice well maintained old cemetery, as we were driving around this area we saw many more of these and after this find we were thinking how many more they could hide in the area. This part of Belgium is not too crowded and we were guessing not too many players.

Isn't it ironic that areas where there could be many many geocaches hidden are usually having only a few local geocachers and many travellers?

The cemetery
If it was a darker evening and the geocache was hidden in the cemetery it could be one of those let's walk away kind of. Maybe there should be another log option such as walked away, and then in the details we could enter why.

The location was beautiful, even in this rainy weather, all around green hill, many cows eating the grass on slopes, and in general nice and clean neighborhood.

The house behing the fence hiding the geocache
I was not sure if this is one of those old houses on the hill with that ancient technic as you can see or is it a nicely made fake one, but as the area was full with those old houses this could just be one of them in good condition.

This was really a good start for our geocaching adventure in Belgium and the neighborhooding countries in two day, keep an eye on for the new posts coming soon with other great hides.

Many thanks for the CO for this hide and that (s)he showed a new hiding technic to me.
