Geocache: Ammo box at the cemetery

Image
Isn't placing an ammo box at a cemetery a bit ironic? Ammo is designed to kill, so to me it is. My last day on a sunny morning in Mississippi and my goal was to find as many regular sized geocaches as I could, and most of them turned out to be ammo boxes. Not hiding to much, just there... I limited my map view on the geocaches that were to be easier and bigger in size, then I drove by those caches and if not many muggles were present I parked and started the search. Most of them were just like this one, park get out of the car and spot it, open, log, close, take pictures for the blog, and on the way to the next one. On other geocaching days when I would go for an area to get that cleaned I could collect a lot more geocaches on a single day, but on this morning I decided let's get to know the Memphis area better, this geocache was still in Southaven, Mississippi, which is another state. While driving around I even stopped at a coffee place other the Starbucks which I...

Geocache: Ammo box, fire, tanks

Image
I looked this geocache up a lot before I went to Memphis. It is an ammo box hidden at a place which from above had already something to offer, so I could not go home without finding this. Ammo box in the fireplace  I arrived at the location with high hopes, and an easy find. At the end it was easy to find but gave me some headache. I'm personally not a big fan of front or backyard geocaches, especially in the USA, where people might have weapons, so trespassing is not a thing you really want to do. When checking out online the geocache I was hoping to have it somewhere on one of the tanks or other objects, but not at a fireplace. The fireplace with the geocache on the right bottom I was walking or rather wandering around the area, hoping that my GPS is not pointing at the right place, I was considering leaving when I looked at all the pictures available and one with a little kid in the place made me feel secure enough to go and search. When I found (to be honest it was ...

Geocache: Ammo box in the pipe

Image
One thing is always fun, finding an ammo box anywhere. This one was on private territory of the cache owner, but easily accessible from the road. I just parked, on the side of the road, walked a bit, overcomplicated the search, got spiders all over me and even a tick got on me somehow. Ammo box in the pipe The fun in geocaching is that you can come across anything, today I was aiming for geocaches which were easy to find and bigger in size and preferably had some trackable items in them, or if none at least with many favorite points. This is how I ended up with this one. I also had over 10 favos to gave away, so I gave some today for good hides. A mushroom. The good when walking amongst trees is that you can find some other plants like this little mushroom, which I never saw before. Maybe common in Mississippi State. The pipe and some more pipes As you see above there are many pipes which would be a convenient hiding place and of course I first went to the right to g...
