Geocache: Under the branches

Image
Now this one is a very common hiding technic. I should have showed a few of these previously, but somehow I just found one yesterday and immediately I decided to share. Mostly I share finds a lot later to make it harder to trace back which hide it could be. Or wait a second... this blog is actually a blog with spoiler images... So here we go... See it? It is hiding under those branches If the hint already contains the fact that you need to search under some branches you should not have hard time finding the cache. So the thing is most geocachers I have met so far are humans and also lazy to some level, so when it is under something like small branches it will be covered with branches, but only to the point that it is barely visible. Humans do that with placing the object above in such a way that it is the least effort to put them there. Just look above, most are paralel, have you ever seen fallen branches just all around the place? Were they paralell? or placed close to each othe...

Geocache: Built in tablet holder

Image
How often do you come across a geocache where you can safely put down your oversized navigation system you might be using? In my case I just love to go geocaching with my tablet. Before you ask it is due to my age which means my vision is getting worse and not to support the progress I prefer something bigger and more visible. The geocache is hiding under the branches, and see my tablet... This geocache I found on a business trip to Hungary on the way home. I left the hotel early morning to finish up the shopping list I got from the family and then took the longest way to the airport and even when I was so close I did not go in, but searched for many around it. Driving on dirt road all around. Nice tablet holder there... Geocaches in woods can be challenging, and if you want to go fast with them go to the woods when most or all the leaves are already on the ground as they really can mess your GPS coordinates up while up on the trees. This one at this time of the year was a...

Geocache: Ammo box in the pipe

Image
One thing is always fun, finding an ammo box anywhere. This one was on private territory of the cache owner, but easily accessible from the road. I just parked, on the side of the road, walked a bit, overcomplicated the search, got spiders all over me and even a tick got on me somehow. Ammo box in the pipe The fun in geocaching is that you can come across anything, today I was aiming for geocaches which were easy to find and bigger in size and preferably had some trackable items in them, or if none at least with many favorite points. This is how I ended up with this one. I also had over 10 favos to gave away, so I gave some today for good hides. A mushroom. The good when walking amongst trees is that you can find some other plants like this little mushroom, which I never saw before. Maybe common in Mississippi State. The pipe and some more pipes As you see above there are many pipes which would be a convenient hiding place and of course I first went to the right to g...
