Geocache: Nano on the gate #2

It looks like a common place to put a nano on the gates in the Netherlands. I remember one of our first nano we found only for the third try was also on a gate, but unfortunately I did not take pictures of that.

The nano, really visible if you know what to see.

When new geocachers ask how to start this game I always tell them start with the low difficulty bigger sizes, that starts them rolling in this game. I also recomment to them to go for more difficult or smaller containers with more experienced geocachers. The higher of the found rate in the beginning the more likely to stay in the game, and you know the more geocachers the more geocaches are hidden as well.

Let's get back to this hide, it was a really nice and sunny day, we went with our foldable bikes that is so much easier to just put in the trunk of the car. When we arrived we saw two kids a bigger girl and a smaller boy at the location, we asked them if they already found it or not? Nope, not yet, - they said. First we thought they are looking at the right place, but then I checked my coordinates and it was away. Then we started to browse through everything but nothing came up... ok we also started to look for a PET preform as the rest of the serie was about that size so far, but then my wife started to double check all the details and said ... Wait it is a nano! A few seconds later we had it in our hands. The little boy hit his head, wow that is small. The log was full, so I replaced it with a selfmade one. With smaller containers in busy geocaching areas the problem is their logs get really full in a short time, that is one of the reasons we always have extra logs with us, different sizes. I also recommend to beginners to carry different pens, darker colors the best, when a log is full you can always find a space you can claim from previous geocachers by writing next or a bit over them, never use a pencil if possible that can be erased.

The gate. The container is there, can you see?
There are hundreds of places to hide a container on a gate or a fence, but for sure nanos are the easiest to hide, while they can be the hardest to find.

Not a long fence next to the gate.
This is a common way for building a gate and the fence in such areas of the Netherlands. No need for a longer fence if there is water all around the land, saves lots of cost on fence maintenance.

The view from the geocache towards the next one.
As we maintained the container and packed up our gear the kids were off to the next one. We decided that we'll skip the next geocache and go for the one after so we let them have fun searching on their own. They caught up with us at the next one.

Thanks for the CO for this whole serie, we had a great afternoon cycling the area, meeting multiple geocachers along the way, chatting with them, cooperating with them, etc.
