On a very cold weekend what is the best place to visit? Of course the beach, especially if you want to find a geocache as well. There are multiple beaches along the coast of the Netherlands the one at Hoek van Holland is the closest to our house so that is where we went for a walk. Hiding in view As my Dutch is not the best at least my vocabulary is not the biggest possible we arrived close to the hiding spot and searched for a few minutes tried to look up the hint in a dictionary but no result, so we decided to google for images with the name, and then this came up. I had to realize I have no clue how it is called in English. The hint was pointing on these objects Besides figuring out what the hint said it was also a challenge to get to them as they are standing in a roundabout at a busy one to make it easy. It is always fun to search for a geocache at locations where the view is just amazing. This time I was in Singapore for business. I had some time before I could start working and lucky for me there was a geocache at the beach walking distance from the warehouse. Hiding in the tree I walked to the location and as you can see above it was not much search to find the geocache, just in the tree really visible. I was more surprised that it was still there. The only people I saw at that time of the day at the beach were the people cleaning the beach, collecting the rubbish from all over. Who likes puppets? How about a museum full with them? somewhere in Taipei ... Unfortunately at the time I could go and search for the geocache the museum was already closed. Hanging out there While geocaching in Taiwan I learned a few things, one of them is that there are not too many geocachers in Taiwan, and even less who hides geocaches. Another important thing is that most people do not care that you are searching, not a single muggle ever asked or looked longer than a second to see what I'm after, not even when we were searching close to the police station, they also did not look like they know what we are up to. There is a place you grew up, and there are places there which you do not visit or at least not regularly. But what can be a better reason to stop at some of these places then a geocache? Now this ruin in Pécs is one of those places. The container with the view It was dark after a nice latte downtown with friends and coconut. As the hint was saying it is magnetic when we got to the place almost the whole team started searching at the most trivial place the fence which was steel. To get to this geocache I had to get off all the main roads. It was at the end of a small village, somewhere you would have no reason to drive to otherwise. Out if its hiding place The was this geocache was hidden is really nice. There was this electric pole left behind after putting a new line in place and it was behind a small rusty door hanging into a pipe. The hint was simple look for the gray wire. The road to nowhere??? As you can see this was a forgotten place, even the road leading to the village was already in such a bad condition that I felt sorry for my rental car, if it was my own car I would have driven super slow. Earlier I was blogging about some geocaches which could use a changing difficulty or terrain settings. This is also one of those geocaches. The geocache taken out of its hiding place... Yeah I know if you take a look at the geocache itself why would I say it is one of those geocaches which are hard to pick up on some days and no problem on other? So in the autumn, winter there is not a single muggle in the area, but in the summer I am sure they are all over the place. Parking is not a problem at this geocache ... ... not a problem at this time of the year, a huge parking lot and not a single car, but I'm sure there is hard to find a slot in the summer on a sunny day. Who said geocaching cannot be dangerous? On my last trip to Hungary I decided to slowly find all geocaches in the area where I need to go every quarter. The geocaches are not located to close to each others and in many cases you need to drive more than ten minutes to find one. This one showed up on the map just recently and I was even hoping to get a FTF, but I was late for that. The geocache hiding in the tree The location is at a memorial place for a huge battle in the Hungarian history. I was thinking on placing one geocache here as well, but as it is a bit further away from the place I lodge I decided I first place geocaches closer, and then one day I see it showing up... If you travel the same route long enough to get bored with it, there is nothing better than changing the stops or adding some at least once in a while. I regularly need to drive from the airport at Budapest to Tiszaújváros and so far most of the geocaches along this route (M3) is represented as a smiley on my geocaching map. A magnetic PET preform This geocache is a bit off my regular route. So this is how it happened, while driving there is this huge intersection where you need to exit towards M0 and the airport. I was driving then there was this huge traffic jam where I was just driving with the speed I could have walked. Then I was so concentrated on the traffic jam that when it ended I forgot to take the exit, so I kept on driving towards the city center of Budapest. Yes, it is hiding there... How often do you come across a geocache where you can safely put down your oversized navigation system you might be using? In my case I just love to go geocaching with my tablet. Before you ask it is due to my age which means my vision is getting worse and not to support the progress I prefer something bigger and more visible. The geocache is hiding under the branches, and see my tablet... This geocache I found on a business trip to Hungary on the way home. I left the hotel early morning to finish up the shopping list I got from the family and then took the longest way to the airport and even when I was so close I did not go in, but searched for many around it. Driving on dirt road all around. Nice tablet holder there... Geocaches in woods can be challenging, and if you want to go fast with them go to the woods when most or all the leaves are already on the ground as they really can mess your GPS coordinates up while up on the trees.
